KLD Soccer. . .Where Goals Become Reality KLD Campers and Coaches have fun together
The Kick, Lead, and Dream (KLD) initiative was founded in 2007 to create a fun environment where motivated high school students (KLD Coaches) volunteer to become role models, to provide the at-risk/low income kids from the Mountain View and Sunnyvale public schools (KLD Campers) the opportunity to improve their soccer skills, learn valuable leadership qualities, and gain the confidence to dream BIG! What started with 30 kids and a handful of coaches has grown to about 300 kids with over 100 coaches. Each of the 24 camp teams is represented by a country flag from traditional soccer countries. The camp is run by high school students for elementary school and middle school students.
Camp highlights include soccer tournaments, water balloon competition, and lots of activities and games. Past guest speakers have included players San Jose Earthquakes, FC Gold Pride...as well as police chiefs/officers from Mountain View and Sunnyvale, and Mountain View's Mayor. Our campers are provided with free refreshments during the camp. KLD's goal is to make their camp experience something they will always remember. Free round-trip bus transportation, from select pick-up points in Mountain View and Sunnyvale to camp, is also provided.
