Being a volunteer KLD Coach is a big responsibility that requires real commitment. However, It is also an incredibly fun experience and offers many personal rewards:
APPLICATION TIMING
Being a KLD Coach is so fun and rewarding, most coaches return summer after summer to volunteer with KLD. This means there is a good chance the KLD coaching spots will fill up this year, so make sure to submit your application early to get yourself on the 2019 KLD coach application list! We will contact all applicants via e-mail, by the end of April/early May to confirm if you were selected as a KLD coach.
APPLICATION PREFERENCES
During the coach selection process, preference will be given to students in the Mountain View/Los Altos and Fremont Union high school districts. 2019 KLD coaches should be incoming Freshman - outgoing Senior year in high school in spring 2018 (prior to the start of KLD). Be aware that if you will be 18 years old during KLD, you will need to be fingerprinted (LiveScan). The fee will be reimbursed. Also, we LOVE to have past KLD campers (who have shown leadership and integrity as KLD campers) come back to KLD as volunteer coaches. That is what the KLD mission is all about!
- KLD Coaches give back to their community, by helping kids from our own community (It feels good to help people!)
- KLD Coaches build long-lasting friendships with fellow KLD Coaches and Campers (Who can't use more friends?)
- KLD Coaches gain leadership/organizational skills, managing a top-notch soccer camp (Good for college apps!)
- KLD Coaches have a great time playing soccer and other fun games with KLD Campers (Who doesn't like fun?!)
- KLD Coaches get free food daily...before, during, and after camp! (Did we mention coaches get FREE food?!)
- KLD Coaches have fun at KLD coach-exclusive activities after camp (More fun?! It doesn't get any better than this!)
